WHALES ARE LIKE PEOPLE:
FALLING IN LOVE, HAVING FAMILIES, AND TAKING CARE OF CHILDREN
THIS IS IT!
Did you know that...
Did you know that...
The blue whale is the largest animal that ever existed on Earth (including dinosaurs)
A baby blue whale is born weighing 2.5 tons. It drinks up to 570 liters of milk daily, grows at a rate of 4 cm a day and gains 3−4 kg of weight per hour
One whale absorbs as much carbon dioxide as hundreds of trees
WHALES HELP TO CONSERVE COMMERCIAL FISH
whales are good for the planet
Whales are vital to the ecosystem.

They fertilize the ocean, which helps grow algae that absorbs 40 percent of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions and produces more than half of the world’s oxygen.
The whales stir up the plankton with their movements, promoting its growth.

For many fish, including commercial fish, plankton is an essential food source. Thus, whales help in preserving food chains in the ocean.

Commercial whaling, or simply the mass killing of whales, continues today in three countries of the world, and right at Russia’s borders — in the Barents Sea (Norway) and in the Far East (Japan).
all whales on the planet have been wiped out by whaling
the blue whale population has disappeared because of man. Now there are only a few thousand of them left.
IN SPITE OF THEIR SIZE, WHALES ARE NOT ABLE TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES
IN SPITE OF THEIR SIZE, WHALES ARE NOT ABLE TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES
575
whales were killed by Norwegians in 2021. And in Japan, 547 dolphins were killed in one year in the town of Taiji alone!
WATCHING AND SWIMMING WITH WHALES
Because of the noise generated by motorboat engines, cetaceans often lose the ability to find mates, make social contact with other whales, and communicate with their offspring.
To understand how whales feel, imagine yourself with children in a quiet, peaceful park where you are joyfully and respectfully enjoying what nature has to offer. But suddenly you hear the sound of a rocket taking off. From the rocket, strange creatures are looking at you. Although you are curious, fear begins to choke you. You run and try to hide, but the rocket chases you.

OCEAN POLLUTION
Bags, packaging, bottles and  other plastic products are now not only in the seas and oceans, but also in the stomachs of animals and birds.

They accidentally swallow plastic, get tangled up in trash, suffer painfully, and death.
million tons of plastic trash, according to various estimates, ends up in the world’s oceans every year.

Up to 4,000 dolphins die in the Black Sea every year because of discarded fishing nets.
Do you still think whales in delphinariums are happy?
whale prisons
In Russia, it is still allowed to catch whales for holding them in oceanariums and delphinariums.

A whale jail is a holding facility for sea mammals to assess their stress tolerance. Some captured cubs cannot withstand being in wild or separated from parents and die. And those who survive and get used to eating fish from human hands are sold to delphinariums.

Because of the constant stress, the whales are forced to live several times shorter lives.
The destruction of whales can lead to an acceleration of global warming, and this means these consequences:
reduction in the volume of drinking water
abnormally cold winter and hot summer
desertification, land dehydration, reduced yields
frequent destructive natural disasters (tornadoes, typhoons, etc.)
the death of many animal and plant species, which simply will not be able to adapt to the new living conditions
WHAT WILL BE,
IF THE WHALES DISAPPEAR
HOW WE CAN HELP THE WHALES
To be knowledgeable in this subject
it can be done by all of us:
Sharing information with others
Not to pollute the seas and oceans, not to harm whales
for those who want to help with real action:
The "Whale Protection Fund" defends the right of whales to life, demands from countries a total ban on whaling, organizes events to attract the attention of Russian and world community, organizes forums, "round tables", scientific and volunteer expeditions, charity auctions and competitions.
A special fund has been organized in Russia, which is fighting to save these amazing animals

Thanks to the volunteer expedition it was possible to collect and take away from remote beaches 69 large bags with trash with a total volume of 13.8 cubic meters and weight of 1284 kilograms. Twenty-nine volunteers and two leaders took part in the three stages.

This will enable you to plan the activities of the foundation, help needy mammals, purchase equipment, and fund charitable programs.
What to do for those who dream of seeing whales in the wild
The Whale Conservation Foundation has developed regulations for monitoring whales and dolphins, taking into account the latest scientific data on the effects on marine mammals of various types of anthropogenic impacts.
